Hormones & Nutrients in the Placenta
Hormones are used by your body to regulate and control specific functions.
Nutrients nourish and feed your body.
During pregnancy, the placenta produces and stores many nutrients and hormones to nourish your baby and sustain your pregnancy. Some of the hormones produced do not normally occur in the body but are essential for the birth experience. As a result of placental production, your body reduces its normal process of producing many of these important substances. At birth, your body loses the production of hormones and nutrients by the placenta and all of the valuable substances stored within it.
For many women, with the loss of the placenta there is a delay before the body resumes its own naturally-balanced production of hormones and nutrients. Placenta encapsulation offers a bridge during this period to help maintain the body's equilibrium and provide a positive experience for the mother and child.

Other Hormones in the Placenta
Cortisone- releases cortisol to combat stress and increase energy
Interferon- stimulates the immune system
Prostaglandins- anti-inflammatory
Hemoglobin- stimulates iron production
Prolactin- stimulates milk production
Urokinase Inhibiting Factor- reduces bleeding
